WEEK 9 : Project 2 : Process on Generating The Final Form (1)

Design Concept
In order to come out with a design concept, I take into consideration of the range of user activities (design function) and also the social and cultural activities relevant to the project direction (design contribution).

After analyzing the site, I realized there are lots of commercials centers in Brisbane CBD, some outdoor parks scattered around the site, exhibition halls in both Brisbane CBD and Fortitude Valley .Also there are some university and schools which act as a community centers in the city.

Referring to the map above
Pink color :commercial centers such as the shops, dining restaurant
Green color : outdoor parks
Purple color : university and schools
Red color : exhibition halls

Hence, I decided to combine all these places in my design which carry three main range of user activities. I defined commercial centers as a busy place, opening to the public while outdoor parks as a place for relaxing, hence it need to hide away from the public. As for the commercial centers, such as university or library, it tends to open to the public yet at the same time it needs to have an enclose surface.

Image 2 : force field created on the site carrying a different function

From image 1, it shows that Brisbane CBD is more happening, so I create more force field in that area, assuming more people coming from that direction. Whereas in the fortitude valley, I created one force field indicating the exhibition hall. There is one force field on story bridge to show where the noise and pollution comes from. Another force field is created to indicate the university and outdoor park in Roma street.
